TDE is completely transparent for existing applications without changes to any other applications. The data is encrypted when written to disk and decrypted when the information is authenticated

Oracle Advanced Security also supports encryption table space. When the tablespace is created on the command line, the possibility now exists to select whether the database is encrypted or not. When the tablespace is fed with data from the entire tablespace will be encrypted (if the option is selected for encryption in the previous step). When the database reads data blocks from tablespace block will be encrypted transparently decrypt the data blocks.
