A solution for many...

One of the most pernicious symptoms of Altzheimer hospital is that patients at a time of confusion, often feel disoriented from the sudden they are in the need to go home.
Radiolab podcasted by building an extraordinary story of how Benrath Senior Centre in Dusseldorf, Germany, has found an alternative solution. The staff noted that patients once tried out first thing in public transport.
So they built a fake bus stop, opposite the clinic. It works. Seniors trying to escape and wander off down there. The goal is to provide staff with a neutral ground to calm patients and make them fall. seniors look to rock the arrival of a bus - perhaps often expect a flashback from their past and imagined back in the present. This single idea has since changed the service center to the elderly - the nurses now lead patients back from "other worlds" by allowing them to explore the concept, Rather than trying to convince them otherwise.
This is a brilliant act of design in the same way as the "@": inventor of the idea, advising senior center, managed to recapture the town bus stop - and all that it symbolizes - in a way that hack essentially the mind.
