Hong Kong, one of the congested places in the world, faces the problem of housing woes. Gary Chang, an architect in Hong Kong, has stunned the world with his eco-friendly 330 square foot apartment called The Domestic Transformer. The aim of this building is to conserve energy and also cope up with the cramped space.
The apartment which has only very less space to spare can be turned into 24 different room reconfigurations. The apartment is a green building that showcases eco-friendly principles and resource-efficient building methods. The sliding doors and panels in the house facilitate the tiny apartment to attain the required form in minutes. This way a lot of space is preserved.
This user-friendly compact apartment exhibits green initiative in all facets of its designing. The interior designing includes combined reflective mirror and glass surfaces to increase light flow throughout the house and thereby to preserve energy. Each and every appliance in this house is diligently fixed in order to make the home an energy efficient environment.
Heating up the house alone will, at times, add up to high energy cost. This has been intelligently dealt with by Chang as he has fixed tinted windows that serve to keep the house warm at all times in this mini-mansion. These energy efficient windows serve as insulators, both during the winter and summer and keep interiors insulated from outside temperatures.
It is a typical green house that concentrates on high energy efficiency, water efficiency, waste reduction, toxic substance reduction, internal air quality, and use of sustainable building materials.
Gary Chang’s initiative has proved to the world that size is not an excuse to follow eco-friendly values. There is still possibility, in fact, a greater possibility for you to maintain an eco-friendly environment even in a small house.
