Fitness and roadways generating energy

Fitness and roadways generating energy A Florida company has transformed a fitness salon into an electrical power generator. According to “Inhabitat”, the people who are going there to exercise and burn calories are in the same time creating sustainable energy.
Usually when people exercise using standard fitness equipment all the kinetic energy generated is completely lost. That’s why the ReRev Company has created a system able to transform easily the ordinary fitness gear into machines able to generate electricity.
After only thirty minutes of workout using the fitness gear the result is 50 watts of electricity which are enough to charge a cellular phone six times or to power a laptop for an hour. The good thing is that the kinetic energy accumulated from the fitness halls during a daytime can be harvested in a much larger quantity.
So far the ReRev Company installed this conversion system at almost 180 fitness gear items from gyms and athletic centers inside the USA universities.
The cash registers from the supermarkets in Great Britain will be powered with the energy generated by the shoppers. The new Sainsbury supermarket recently opened is the first establishment to introduce this program in the Great Britain according to Telegraph, UK.
The clients of the new Sainsbury shop from Gloucester will generate electricity while passing with their cars over a kinetic board placed at the entry in the parking lot of the supermarket.
This device will convert the car movement into an energy supply sufficient for powering the cash registers, reducing this way the energy consumption from the standard power alimentation network. The street kinetic boards are already in the mass production but the new Sainsbury supermarket is the first one to introduce this intelligent and environmental friendly system.
Sainsbury estimates that the kinetic system will produce approximately 30kw /hour, almost 25 times more energy than the one usually consumed by a British household and this way sufficient to power the devices thirsty for electricity like refrigerators and air conditioning.
