The Small Business Administration's Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE offices) is a new initiative to help small businesses better compete in the 21st century.

What small businesses really need to compete is broadband.
Yes, you read that right, certainly not of tax incentives. Apparently the secret ingredient missing to level the playing field is ... access to high speed internet.
It was deployed an all-star cast of blue-chip sponsors to help small businesses, to use the broadband technology, including AT & T, Best Buy, Cisco, Constant Contact, Google, HP, Intuit, Microsoft, Skype and Time Warner.
Not sure how this will help half of all small businesses that do not even think I need a website ... but for those interested, this new public-private consortium launches effort on Wednesday, April 7. The initiative aims to help small businesses improve their knowledge of web and e-commerce knowledge through courses and free and cheap software tools available through SCORE offices.
If you do not have internet for your business, or wonder how you could best use the Web to grow your business, this opportunity could be cheap to find out what the Web can do for you.
